An ACoN is an Adult Child of a Narcissist. This term does not define the survivors as much as it defines the abusers, but we have to put a name to all the crap done to us whether we like the label or not. The evil resume of the narcissist includes, but is not limited to Spiritual Mind Games, Gaslighting, Scapegoating, Flying Monkeys, Denial, Narcissistic Feed, Martyrdom, Shunning, and everything else that is done to us in the Narcissistic Circus and Religious Narcia.
We once accepted all that was done to us because we were victims and helpless children, but we are the grownups now we have survived. We will no longer allow ourselves to be the Narcissist’s Mirror and we will no longer play a Game We Can Never Win with the Narcissist. By now, you like the rest of us, may have learned If You Give the Narc an Apology it’s useless, but it’s Not You, It’s the Narc. We can all join forces and give the message to the narcs that We are Not Your Kind of People and we Don’t let People Lie to Us anymore.
If you are new to this concept, you have come to the right place. You are not alone. When you break your silence, you will began to realize that Your Story Matters and like Little Red who rescued herself from the wolf, you get to Decide How the Story Ends.
For Children Who Were Once Broken, we know it takes time, but it is possible to Re-Frame and Thrive! you can learn Why Gray Rock Beats Paper and the difference between Forgive and Forget and how to forgive even When They Won’t Say Sorry for your own health. And when all else fails, we can go No Contact and determine if it is UnChristian to Go No Contact.
Even if you still Struggle With Your Parents, you can Stop Confusing God With Your Parents because you are now Re-Parented By God and no longer need to play the Shame and Blame Game. The Religious Narc’s threats of burning in hell is just one more thing you No Longer Need to Fear because Jesus is Coming to Love You, Not Hurt You. So relax, now you will find new family and Go Where You are Celebrated because it’s your Night Before Freedom.
My mission in life is not merely to survive,
but to thrive; and to do so with some passion,
some humor, and some style.
